A dedicated operating theatre, a sterile preparation room and equipment specific to orthopaedic surgery: discover the conditions in which your pet is operated on at Colvet.
Orthopaedic surgery requires a clean environment, suitable equipment and a rigorous protocol, from cleaning the instruments to your pet's recovery. Here are the main spaces of our surgical suite.
The operating theatre
This is where orthopaedic procedures take place: cruciate ligament ruptures, fractures, patellar luxations or hip dysplasia.
Your pet is placed under a sterile drape, with continuous anaesthesia monitoring (heart rate, oxygenation, breathing) throughout the procedure, to ensure their safety from start to finish.
The preparation room
Before every surgery, instruments are cleaned, packaged and sterilised in this dedicated space, separate from the operating theatre.
- Individual packaging of instruments before sterilisation;
- Autoclave for steam sterilisation;
- Separate handling of hazardous waste (sharps containers);
- Hygiene protocol applied before every procedure.
Orthopaedic surgical equipment
Orthopaedics requires a specific set of instruments, distinct from soft-tissue surgery: surgical drill, pin trays, osteosynthesis screws and plates, bone reduction forceps.
Each tray is assembled according to the type of procedure (fracture, TPLO, patellar luxation...) so that all the equipment needed is ready from the very start of the operation.
